Welcome to the Northside neighborhood blog. Many thanks to NNA vice president Chris Bogosian for setting up the blog (and updating our website). We hope to have NNA boardmembers blogging on topics of neighborhood interest.
Let me start my first blog by urging residents to visit the website for 13th St. NAC, the local Strong Neighborhoods Initiative (SNI) group, www.13thStNAC.org. There you can donate online to one or more of several of our neighborhood programs, including to NNA. Donations should be tax deductible under our 501c(3) umbrella.
The City of San Jose's budget plight is well-known, so it's important that Northside residents do as much as we can on our own to maintain and improve our neighborhood. That's why it's important for Northsiders to contribute what they can. Although NNA is, and has always been, a free organization, your donations to NNA can help us continue to provide our quarterly newsletter in your mailbox and provide all our other volunteer services to our neighborhood. Likewise, the Friends of Backesto, Watson and Bernal Parks could use your support, as can the Friends of Joyce Ellington Library (re-opening in 2008), and Friends of Ryland Pool, the historic (and only) public downtown pool, which needs to be re-opened.
Every dollar counts, so I hope you will join me in giving generously. Thanks!
